Cybernet, headquartered in Ann Arbor, Michigan, was founded in 1989 by Heidi Jacobus (1952-2016) while pursuing her doctorate in computer science from the University of Illinois, Urbana. Together with her husband, Chuck, they launched the company with the ultimate objective of blurring the lines of human interaction with devices to the point where such interaction becomes transparent.
